Work Milestone: 1 Year at City of London Academies Trust
02 Oct 2024
Today marks one year since I joined the IT team at The City of London Academies Trust, primarily working at Newham Collegiate Sixth Form Centre. What a year it has been! I started the role with little confidence in my abilities, but I have risen to all the challenges and conquered them with grace and efficiency. In instances where I lacked knowledge, I proactively sought out the information needed to complete the tasks. It also helped that the team was supportive throughout the journey.
Here are a few highlights:
- Improved the management of student iPads in Meraki, ensuring they run smoothly. This also allowed students to choose which apps to install, effectively managing their limited storage space.
- Spearheaded the transition of student iPad management from Meraki to Intune, driven by the need for a more integrated and streamlined system to better support our educational technology needs.
- Configured and transitioned the management of staff laptops and desktops to Intune, moving them away from AD.
- Found ways to automate many of the manual processes within the school’s various systems.
- Completed the migration of files from the on-premises server to SharePoint. Ensured secure data transfer and maintained file integrity. Configured user permissions to match previous settings for a smooth transition.
In summary, this year has been incredibly enriching in terms of the knowledge I’ve
gained. I’ve acquired a wealth of expertise, spanning both technical skills and business
acumen. From mastering new technologies and improving IT processes to understanding
the strategic aspects of our operations, this year has been a remarkable journey
of professional growth and development.
