January, the month everyone decides to start fresh, set new goals, and embrace change. This month is has been nothing short of interesting, an interesting fact you probably don't know is that the doomsday clock moved to 85 seconds to midnight from 89 seconds last year, the closest it's ever been to midnight since its creation in 1947. Now that I have your attention, let's dive into the moments that made my January 2026 memorable.

Is This Thing On?
  • Started a new project in the form of the website for my sister business.
  • Rediscovered London through the eyes of MIT students during their time in the city.
  • Enjoyed small but meaningful moments, good conversations, good films, good food
Character Development

I started the year with a renewed focus on generosity, be it with my time, attention, or resources. The point isn't about grand gestures but about cultivating a mindset of abundance and kindness in everyday interactions.

The main event of the month was offering to play tour guide to three abolutely lovely MIT students visiting London for the month. It was a joy to see the city through their eyes. From the normal tourist spots to evening walks along the Thames, every moment was filled with discovery and laughter. We explored museums, parks, and there was at least a cinema trip involved, because of course there was.

The experience reminded me of the importance of curiosity and openness to new experiences. It was also a reminder that there's a difference between seeing a place and truly experiencing it, especially through the lens of others.

Builder’s Log

This month also marked the beginning of a new project: building a website for my sister hair business. It was something we had talked about for a while, and I finally was tired of waiting for the "perfect" time to start. Diving into this project reminded me of the importance of taking initiative and not waiting for ideal conditions to pursue something meaningful. It's till a work in progress, but I'm excited about the possibilities it holds.

Work was a little slower this month, which gave me a chance to start using powershell for more than just the odd script here and there. There's no automation happening yet, but I'm enjoying the process of learning and experimenting with it.

The Media Reel

This month in movies was mostly great with 18 films watched, most of them new releases. It started with The Housemaid (2025), a film I knew I would enjoy based on the trailer alone, but it exceeded my expectations. Another notable highlight was 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple (2026), which was a gripping watch from start to finish, and because everything has to come in threes, Is this thing On? (2025) was a fun, light-hearted film that provided a nice contrast to the more intense movies I watched earlier in the month.

On the reading front, I started and finished book 7 of The Wandering Inn: Rains of Liscor by pirateaba, which continues to be a captivating read. Next up is book 9 of the series Blood of Liscor.

This month in music was dominated by the new MIKA album Hyperlove, which has been on repeat since it dropped. One song that stood out in particular was Nicotine, which has a catchy beat and memorable lyrics.

February Forecast

As February approaches, I'm looking forward to continuing the momentum from January. I plan to keep exploring new experiences, nurturing relationships, and making progress on the website project. Additionally, I want to focus on maintaining a balance between work and personal life, ensuring that I make time for both productivity and relaxation.

This is the first entry in Mo’menths. Next up: February.
